About Cathryn LeCorre, PCC, MEd

My Story

Who am I? Why am I here? Where do I belong?

These questions informed my life as a young girl, Being born in Liberia, Africa and immigrated to Edmonton, Canada from England when I was five years old, I struggled with my identity and knowing who I was. My life has been a journey of connection and belonging.

Through my life and work experiences, I have learned that in each space, there are different rules, mindsets, behaviours, and values. I have also discovered that embracing our differences is the source of our greatest creativity and innovation. When we live from the very core of who we are, we can feel better, build better relationships and co-create social change that benefits all people.

The struggle that arises from toggling back and forth between our professional selves and the authentic, soulful self is real. I have experienced the burnout, dysfunction, and toxicity that surfaces when living and working in an environment where I compartmentalized myself from being true to my values and purpose. I know what it feels like to try to fit myself into spaces that limit my authentic expression and perpetuate the systemic cultural patterns that keep us stuck.

The moment that I chose to embrace my truth, ask the difficult questions, listen deeply for the answers, and show up fully in my own sovereignty was the moment I truly became a leader of my life. I discovered my value is inherent. I learned that I needed to heal myself first by embracing my experiences, appreciating my differences and fostering connection with my emotions and feelings. My wholeness matters to the greater whole.

To be an impactful changemaker, I have learned to first be a responsible, compassionate and creative leader of my own life. I believe change is a process of healing the divide within ourselves by integrating the whole self - body, mind, and spirit - and deepening into the wider context of our ancestry. I have discovered that when we do our work together, and in alignment with the seasonal cycles of the earth, we can accelerate the process to co-create the change we want to see in the world.

Why collective leadership coaching and seasonal circles of change?

As an experienced Leadership Coach, Transformational Facilitator and Yoga Teacher, with more than 20 years of experience building leadership and coaching cultures in Canadian healthcare organizations, I have experienced first hand what is required to facilitate transformation in change. I know the challenges and possibilities of working inside of large complex systems and am dedicated to co-creating spaces and places for change agents to thrive.

I work with facilitators of change who want to embody leadership, expand collaboration and co-create change so they can thrive and grow. Through a wholistic approach, I help you close the gap between current reality and desired future by embodying leadership, building authentic relationships and addressing systemic patterns so that you can feel more fulfillment and realize your goals. Together, we work close the gap between what is important and what you do everyday. You will feel better, build authentic relationships, create new possibilities and move toward your shared purpose.

I believe that small groups of people co-creating together are the unit for societal transformation. My work is at the intersection of authentic leadership, coaching, yoga and organizational development change methodologies to support changemakers to co-create change through collaborative leadership. My approach also integrates the principles and practices of feminine leadership and the ancient earth based practices from the Yogic traditions and my Celtic lineages.

My Professional Experience

I am an award winning Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and Human Systems Dynamics Professional (HSDP) whose projects have been acknowledged by the International Coach Federation (ICF) with a CoachingWise designation and Prism Award. My work has been published in coaching journals and an upcoming book on Inner Development Goals: Collective Leadership in Action.

My first professional post with the United Nations in Ecuador, ignited the leading question that has been guiding my professional journey, how do you engage people in the participation and planning of their communities? This inquiry has led my research and work to the intersection of the individual and system in co-creating social change.

As the first internal Leadership Coach at Fraser Health, I co-created the conditions for a coaching culture to flourish that resulted in an ICF Prism Award and recognition as a ICF Coaching Wise Organization. Collaborating with a globally recognized and award winning team, we delivered transformational leadership development programs that supported leaders to lead self, engage others, achieve results, develop coalitions and transform the BC Health Care system. I am aware of what it takes to create culture change and transform systems and as Meg Wheatley says, there is nothing more powerful than small groups of people who know what they care about.

As an Organizational Development Consultant, I have worked with multidisciplinary groups, including indigenous partners, universities, government ministries, health authority representatives and nursing unions, to develop psychological and cultural safe cultures that can collaborate effectively and generate innovative action for greatest impact so that they can build a integrated and holistic health and care system.

Currently, I am co-creating conditions for creation culture to flourish, one conscious breath at a time, through teaching yoga practice and facilitating seasonal circles of change.

Education, Training and Certifications

My passion for co-creating conditions for thriving creation cultures builds on my graduate work, a Masters of Education (MEd) from the University of Calgary, that integrated earth-based spirituality, leadership, adult education with my background in international development, a Bachelor of Arts (BA Honors) from Dalhousie University. I have worked locally with universities, government and health care and globally with teaching colleges, Canada World Youth and the United Nations.

I have been providing leadership coaching, facilitation and consulting to leaders, teams, and large organizations since 2004. I also have an extensive and diverse professional background in organizational development, program design and delivery, evaluation and research, gender equity, health care, intuitive healing, ceremony, yoga and meditation. These experiences gift me with a holistic, integrated and systemic approach to change and transformation.

These are the significant teachers and mentors upon whose shoulders I am grateful to be standing and the trainings that inform my approach:
